Sudden cardiac arrest, when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, is the leading cause of natural death in the United States. It claims an estimated 325,000 lives each year. When the heart stops beating, every second counts to get the person the help they need. If not treated quickly, sudden cardiac arrest usually results in death. Senior biology and pre-medicine major Jacob Wagner conducted research on new methods to lose weight involving the relationship between endocannabinoid receptors and muscle thermogenesis, both properties that regulate bodily functions and processes, such as appetite and burning calories.
