This fall, Kent State students took part in a nationwide effort to increase voting participation through design. The project is part of the professional organization for design, AIGA’s Design for Democracy initiative. Every year since 2000, AIGA has activated its community of designers to design 11x17 posters, encouraging citizens to “get out the vote.” This year, the organization also recognized the 100th centennial of the 19th Amendment’s ratification, which made way for the first legislation for women’s voting rights. Cooper Moore, fourth year Architecture student at Kent State’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has been named Midwest Quad Director of the American Institute of Architects Students (AIAS). As director, Moore oversees the 49 chapters of the Midwest region and is a voting member of the AIAS National Board of Directors. He will be meeting with chapters regularly to provide updates and to hear reports from each of them.
