The School of Media and Journalism at ������ is saddened at the unexpected death of our alumnus, adjunct instructor and friend Bobby Makar. Bobby was a graduate of our B.S. and M.A. programs in Digital Media Production (DMP). Due to Flint, Michigan’s population decrease, loss of tax revenue, and increased demands of city services the city was taken over by the state in 2011, which led to the now infamous water crisis.  A policy of municipal takeover was implemented to help relieve Flint of financial and political hardships. A true milestone in the concept of international education, the American Academy celebrated its first Commencement in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, on Sept. 25. The American Academy is a dual-enrollment program jointly operated by ������ and the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR). Pamela R. Anderson-Bartholet, AAB ‘89, MA ‘94, MFA ‘12, has a long history at Kent State, graduating from the university three times before working for Kent State.
