This year was a busy and productive year for the LGBTQ Student Center. In 2018, The Center had nearly 6,000 contacts, coordinated 82 programs and events, and facilitated 70 training sessions; training nearly 1,700 individuals.  We also hosted our largest and most successful Rainbow Run, which helped to raise nearly $4,000 for the LGBTQ Emergency Fund. We also raised over $11,000 in the Giving Tuesday campaign, which helped generate enough funds to help 22 LGBTQ+ students who are in financial crisis. The luncheon welcomed and honored new diverse faculty and staff hires invited from all Kent State campuses. On November 30, the ������ Library hosted the Girls4Steam hackathon-style event, which brought together over 80 local high school students. The purpose of the annual event is to “inspire young women to be creators of technological innovations—not just consumers of technology—who use technology as a creative tool to build solutions for problems people face in their daily lives.” The students were presented with technology training and then tasked with a design innovation challenge to collaboratively create their own unique product, such as a game, website, app, or circuit project...

������ Police Services is celebrating the five-year anniversary – or the 35 dog-year anniversary – of its first K-9 unit, which features 7-year-old German Shepherd Coco and her handler, Officer Anne Spahr. “She is very high spirited, very high energy and very smart,” Officer Spahr said. “She is a phenomenal work dog, very focused and thorough, but quick.
