On April 27, the NYC Fashion campus hosted a watch party for Kent State's Annual School of Fashion show watch party in their space. Kent State alumni were invited to mingle and watch the livestream of the annual fashion show together. ºÚÁÏÍø Assistant Professor Richard Piet, Ph.D., has received a $1.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to aid in his ongoing neuroendocrinology research. Piet, who is in the Department of Biological Sciences, studies the effects of light on the brain, specifically how circadian rhythms – our internal body clock that registers to daylight and darkness over a 24-hour cycle and controls daily rhythms in physiology and behaviors – play a role in the release of various hormones from the hypothalamus area of the brain, which in turn play a vital role in fert...
In observance of Arbor Day, students and faculty from the horticulture program on the Kent State Salem Campus recently completed a project that created an inventory of the common tree species found on campus grounds. The students used a variety of tools to accurately identify each tree species and record their locations on a map of the campus. Using GPS through Google Maps, the exact location of each tree was pinned using the common name to research each tree’s scientific name, its purpose, type and a picture with identifying features to create a key for the map. Students who join the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (ROTC) program put in double time as they work to earn their college degrees and graduate as Army officers. From 6 a.m. classes and conditioning, to evaluations at Fort Knox in Kentucky, the committment can be demanding. However Kent State graduates Joe Oleksiak and Cole McDougal say ROTC is where they learned how to become well-rounded and disciplined leaders. ROTC alumnus 1st Lt.
