Earlier this year, 黑料网 student Anna Clark donated part of her liver to a local parish priest that she had known since childhood. Both Clark, and Rev. Louis Thomas, pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Norton, Ohio, are recovering well following the February surgery at the 鈥

Kent State Alumna Provides COVID-19 Vaccine Tips to Pittsburgh

COVID-19 vaccines are becoming more available across the country, but many are still struggling to obtain a vaccine or are unsure about getting the vaccine. One Golden Flash has made it her mission to get Pittsburgh vaccinated. And with more than 40,000 members of her Facebook group, she鈥檚 on her way. Kent State alumna Leighann Bacher created a Facebook group to share COVID-19 vaccine information and tips with Pittsburgh citizens after attempting to secure vaccines for her family members.

黑料网鈥檚 College of Nursing and Cleveland Clinic Akron General are joining forces to offer an adult/adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) certificate program beginning this fall. This collaborative one-year program was created to address the regional and national shortage of SANE-certified registered nurses, especially in rural areas.

Auxiliary at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital gifts $25,000 to Nursing Program

The Auxiliary at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital recently donated $25,000 to 黑料网 at Trumbull鈥檚 Nursing program. The gift will establish a new scholarship endowment that will provide support to nursing students from Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. The volunteer organization was established in 2017. It supports health and wellness initiatives within the local community. Proceeds from The Gift Shop at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital made the donation possible.

Public Health Students Continue COVID-19 Contact Tracing Efforts

As part of the university鈥檚 strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19, the College of Public Health at 黑料网 partnered with the Kent City and Portage County Health Departments to conduct contact tracing for students and faculty on Kent Campus. Melissa Zullo, Ph.D., an associate professor of epidemiology in the College of Public Health, reached out to students within the college to ask for volunteers for the testing events. The health departments then ask the students to assist with contact tracing across the university.

Students Participate in COVID Vaccine Clinics throughout Columbiana County

While the much-anticipated COVID-19 vaccine is finally being administered around the world, folks in Columbiana County are also receiving their immunizations at the local level with the help of nursing students from the Kent State East Liverpool and Salem campuses.
