Alumni Spotlight: Riley Jones, B.S. ’24, Computer Engineering Technology

What began as a high school job bagging groceries at Heinen’s led Riley Jones to a full-time career in IT. Now an IT Specialist at the company’s corporate office, Jones manages technology systems across retail stores, warehouses, and a datacenter.

Kent State Alumnus Antonio Gates Takes First Steps Toward Enshrinement

ºÚÁÏÍø alumnus Antonio Gates has begun his journey to football immortality, recently visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, to meet with officials and begin preparations for his enshrinement. The former basketball standout at Kent State will become just the second Golden Flash to earn a gold jacket, joining linebacker Jack Lambert who was enshrined in 1990.

Accomplished sociologist, TV host, podcaster, author Kent State alumna Bertice Berry, Ph.D.,used her alma mater as a familiar setting for her book "BlackWorld," which explores a "unique corner of heaven" where the living can visit with and learn from the deceased. She also some of her memories of Kent State and personal insights into the university's place in history.

What’s That Statue Near the Esplanade Arch?

A dramatic, 15-foot-tall bronze sculpture stands on the Lefton Esplanade near the intersection of East Main Street and Haymaker Parkway. It’s a gift from a Kent State alumnus and outstanding supporter of the university.
