Changes in Leadership of Staff Council

Dated: March 2025

It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to Stephanie Gaskins, Manager, Reserve Services and Chair of Staff Council, who left the university after 13 years of dedicated service. Since 2024, Stephanie was elected as the Chair of Staff Council, working tirelessly to advocate for the needs and interests of staff across all our campuses.

As a valued member of the library staff, Stephanie played a key role in supporting the university community, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that resources were accessible to all. Her commitment to advocacy, leadership, and staff well-being  left a lasting impact. Throughout her tenure, Stephanie was a champion for inclusivity, professional development, and workplace improvements, always striving to make the university a better place for staff members. Her passion, dedication, and unwavering support will be greatly missed.

According to the bylaws, the Vice Chair moves into the Chair position. We welcomed Alice Kopunovitz as the new Chair, and Heidi Covan as the Vice Chair effective April 1, 2025. We were excited for the consistency this transition provided for Staff Council, and looked forward to their leadership.
