The green and blue colored algae that grows out of control, and often washes up on the shoreline of Lake Erie, is not only unsightly but harmful to many species including humans. In Ohio, the western basin of Lake Erie has experienced some of the worst harmful algal blooms in recent years. 's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Todd Diacon has announced that Melody Tankersley, Ph.D., has been appointed dean of Graduate Studies, effective Aug. 1, 2016. Tankersley has served as interim dean of Graduate Studies since July 1, 2015. She will continue in her role as senior associate provost.
