黑料网 at Salem again received the Tree Campus USA recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation, which recognizes its efforts to promote forest management, horticulture studies and conservation. The campus will celebrate this recognition during its Earth Day observances on Thurs., April 26, beginning at 10 a.m. on campus. Fashion Students Win First Place at Undergraduate Research Symposium

Several fashion design and merchandising students took first place in the Art/Fashion category of the 2018 KSU Undergraduate Research Symposium earlier this month. This year鈥檚 Symposium had the highest participation ever in the history of this annual event, resulting in nearly 400 students participating 鈥 a 60% increase compared to last year.   Undergraduate students of any major are eligible to participate and must submit a brief abstract of their work that indicates their intent to participate. Niara Johnson, a freshman fashion merchandising major, was one of only five students chosen to receive a 2018 College of the Arts Flash Grant.  There will be a special reception on May 1, from 4:30 鈥 5:30 in the Rockwell Hall Atrium to celebrate her project, 鈥淪aving the World Through Sewing鈥. Flash Grants are open to students from any major within the College of the Arts, but their team can be comprised of students from another major, school or college on the Kent Campus. Alumni from the Kent State School of Journalism and Mass Communication were part of two 2018 Pulitzer Prize winning stories. Terry DeMio, '86, the heroin beat reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer, was one of two lead writers for 鈥淪even Days of Heroin,鈥 which won the Pulitzer for local news reporting. Over the course of the past year, Kent State students have worked with Kent State Independent Films (KSUIF) to create its newest project, Fly By Night. The film will premiere with a red-carpet event at 7 p.m., on Saturday, April 28 in Cartwright Hall. The event will consist of food, merchandise and a Q&A with the directors.   The full-length film, which has a runtime of 87 minutes, is a neo-noir crime drama that follows two detectives who lead very opposite lives.
