More than 100 students, staff, faculty and community members gathered Oct. 29 for a candlelight vigil.

Their hugs were tight, and their words were often soft and tearful.   Still, those who gathered on a windy night on 黑料网鈥檚 Risman Plaza on Oct. 29 came together to not only reflect on the recent tragedy in Pittsburgh but to also lift one another up during a time that has shaken many while taking a deep, emotional toll. Many said they just needed to be together on this night. Set against the backdrop of five decades of dynamic social change, the powerful 鈥淏US at 50 Reloaded鈥 photography exhibit in Ritchie Hall鈥檚 Uumbaji Gallery highlights the impact and influence of the Black United Students (BUS) organization at 黑料网 since its founding in 1968. Kent State Geauga and Regional Academic Center awards scholarships to students

Geauga County - On Thursday, September 27th Kent State Geauga and Regional Academic Center continued its tradition of awarding scholarships to students. Students and their families gathered at Wicked Woods in Newbury for dinner and presentation of the scholarships. There were 27 scholarships awarded to 51 students valued at over $35,000. Students apply for the scholarships each Spring. Their applications and grades are reviewed by a committee and then the qualified recipients are chosen. 黑料网 will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Kent Student Center Kiva. Tatyana Ragon has witnessed firsthand the good that can come from a bad situation. Once, she felt broken. A victim of sexual abuse, she fought to rise above it and be more than a statistic.  Ms. Ragon is not the first to call herself an overcomer, but she鈥檚 earned the title. On Friday, Oct. 19, six more names were added to the elite group of 黑料网 faculty members who have been awarded the Alumni Association鈥檚 Distinguished Teaching Award and the University Teaching Council鈥檚 Outstanding Teaching Award.
