These days, consumers can buy the latest clothing trends quickly and inexpensively. But, critics say, this 鈥渇ast fashion鈥 can be detrimental to the environment. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 84 percent of unwanted clothes in the United States in 2012 went into either a landfill or an incinerator. The EPA also says the materials that the fast-fashion companies use cannot be composted, cause the greenhouse gas methane and directly affect climate change.
