Paris

Say bonjour to Paris!

What鈥檚 it like to study in Paris?

School of Fashion Study Away Fashion

Located in the Latin Quarter (5th arrondissement), IFA is housed in the historic Hotel Scipion Sardini, a true architectural gem built in 1565. The building, which is also certified as sustainable, blends heritage-February 1, charm with cutting-edge facilities that provide students with an inspiring environment that fosters creativity and self-expression.

Students will enjoy the city鈥檚 vibrant cultural and artistic heritage, with everything at their feet: museums, exhibits, cafes, historical sights, and trendy fashion houses. Students stay in centrally located apartments, allowing for an immersive experience.

Apartments are fully furnished and shared with other KSU study abroad students. Private apartments may be requested; however, there is an additional cost, and there are limited units available. Students are encouraged to cook in their apartments and get out into the city to explore the diverse culinary scene that Paris has to offer. You can practice your French while picking up produce and meals from the various markets in Paris. When budgeting, you can expect to spend about 50 Euros daily for meals and snacks.

How will studying in Paris help your career development?

Imagine spending a summer in the city of lights, rubbing shoulders with experts in different fields by day and soaking up the distinctively French atmosphere by night. The International Fashion Academy offers students the possibility of spending four weeks in Paris. Plus, this is a perfect opportunity to participate in a comprehensive academic and cultural program, along with expanding French language skills.

"My experience in Paris taught me a lot about couture fashion. I was honored to learn techniques from industry professionals who had worked in Parisian couture ateliers. I used my new skills to create a couture collection of five looks for my senior BFA thesis, which made it into the annual Kent State Fashion Show. As well as learning valuable skills in Paris, I had the amazing opportunity to work backstage at various shows during Paris Fashion Week. These experiences helped me secure an internship with Christian Siriano and open up plenty of opportunities within the industry.鈥
