Julian Edelman Named to New England Patriots Hall of Fame

Former Kent State quarterback and New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has been voted into the Patriots Hall of Fame as the 37th inductee, the team announced Monday.

Edelman, who spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Patriots after being selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft, joins a prestigious group of three-time Super Bowl champions enshrined in the team's hall of fame.

"Julian Edelman is one of the great success stories in our franchise's history," said Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft in a statement. "No one was more committed to his craft and honing his skills than Jules. His explosiveness off the line, quickness in his cuts and elusiveness after the catch made him one of the hardest players to defend."

The former Flash was a three-year starter at quarterback for Kent State from 2006 to 2008, amassing nearly 5,000 passing yards and 7,480 total yards during his collegiate career. In his senior season, Edelman broke Josh Cribbs' single-season total yards record set in 2003, accumulating 3,190 total yards and 26 total touchdowns.

After being drafted, Edelman successfully transitioned from college quarterback to NFL wide receiver. He ranks second in Patriots history with 620 receptions, fourth with 6,822 receiving yards and ninth with 36 receiving touchdowns. His 9,869 all-purpose yards rank fourth in team history.

Edelman also made NFL history in the postseason, ranking third all-time with 118 playoff receptions and 1,442 receiving yards, behind only Travis Kelce and Jerry Rice. He was named Super Bowl LIII MVP after recording 10 catches for 141 yards in New England's victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Edelman returned to Kent State to complete his education, earning his Bachelor of Integrative Studies degree in 2019.

"Earning my degree from Kent means a lot to me," Edelman said at the time. "This is one of my first parts of my journey where it all started. Getting here and having my parents here and my family to witness this is one of the first goals that I had going into my young adult life. So, to be able to come here and fulfill that, it's unbelievable."

Throughout his career, Edelman has maintained connections to his alma mater, frequently acknowledging Kent State on social media platforms.

Edelman will be inducted alongside former Patriots head coach Bill Parcells, who was named as a contributor to the Patriots Hall of Fame by Kraft. The date and time for the 2025 Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be announced once details are confirmed with the inductees.
