Transforum Theatre

Transforum Theatre is an incubator for new works within the Kent State’s School of Theater and Dance. Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to transform their ideas into reality while bringing new stories to Kent State stages as well as to international ones.

Every 2 years, Transforum Theatre works with students to create a piece of devised theatre which travels to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, the world’s largest arts festival and a spring board for many new theatrical and artistic works.

During the school year Transforum Theatre hosts a Workshop Series which brings guest speakers to Kent who will run workshops focusing on elements of the creative process that can often be glossed over, but are indispensable when creating new works. These workshops will hopefully touch on topics like: Playwriting, Marketing for Theater, Devised Theater, Improv, and more. Transforum Theatre also assists in the production of new student works in the School of Theater and Dance’s Black Box Series.

Transform Theatre! is a theatre troupe associated with the School of Theatre and Dance. Every two years, we send a group of students to Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which is the largest theatre festival in the world.
