Ultimate
Costa Rica Itinerary
7 night 7 day $2995
4 night 4 day $1795
|
|
Day One

|
Arrive in San Jose and
overnight at our favorite downtown hotel (included), amidst the
nightlife of Costa Rica's capital.
|
|
Day Two
|
A 7:00am departure from
your hotel (included) begins your van tour of mountains, cloud forests
and a banana plantation to the end of the jungle road. Then you'll
board a riverboat for an exciting trip upriver to the island paradise
known as Jungle Tarpon Lodge. Fishing fills the afternoon until
it is time for happy hour, followed by excellent local cuisine and
evening alligator spotting. Overnight at the lodge.
|
|
Day Three

|
Skim along the shoreline
in search of large Tarpon feeding on baitfish. Casting lures above
a feeding group, your heart will pound with excitement when you
feel the mighty fish engulf your small lure! After setting the hook,
60 to 150 pounds of pure muscle will scream to the surface in one
of the most amazing sights in all of sportfishing. Should the weather
preclude comfortable ocean fishing, the target will be Snook or
one of the many other smaller species available in Rio California
and lagoons within the jungle. Even if the weather is fine, this
is fishing that shouldn't be missed!
|
|
Day Four

|
Follow a nature trail
reserve that borders the ocean on one side and the river on the
other, spotting Howler Monkeys, Iguana, Sloth, and the wild birds
of the rainforest canopy. An afternoon optional sightseeing trip
to the Caribbean port of Limon will give you the real Caribbean
feel.
|
|
Day Five

|
Tarpon fishing offshore
and inside the jungle for those who want some more. For the rest,
we'll spend the day exploring Tortuguero National Park. This is
the treasured home of the Loggerhead, Green, Hawksbill and Leatherback
Sea Turtles. If egg-laying occurs during your stay, you may choose
to stay up late to witness the incredible spectacle of watching
the turtles fulfill their ages-old duty. We may also fish for Guapote
with ultralight spinning or fly outfits under the jungle canopy.
|
|
Day Six

|
A day of exploration
on several of the lesser-known jungle rivers and exceptional natural
environs. We'll wake later in the morning and enjoy a great breakfast
before heading out on the boat, and in the afternoon we'll walk
sand beaches and catch some rays. A great day.
|
|
Day Seven

|
Rise late to the growl
of the ever-present Howler Monkeys and have breakfast before heading
to Mount Arenal by van to view this amazing active volcano. Your
day includes natural hot pools, hiking, dinner and viewing one of
the world's most active volcanoes. Overnight in a hotel near the
volcano
|
|
Day Eight

|
Enjoy breakfast and an
afternoon van tour of the artisan community of Saarchi with lunch
en route. This area is famous for its coffee, woodworking and creative
people that make some great handicrafts. Return San Jose.
