Making the decision to transfer schools wasn’t an easy one for me, but it turned out to be one of the best choices I’ve made. My name is Jeff, and I’m a sophomore who transferred to ºÚÁÏÍø from a smaller university in Ohio. What started as a leap of faith turned into an exciting new chapter filled with personal growth, opportunities, and a sense of belonging. I began my college journey at a small school, not far from my hometown of Cleveland.

While I liked the sense of community there, I quickly realized that it wasn’t the right fit for me. The programs I was passionate about didn’t offer the depth or variety I was hoping for, and I wanted to be at a place that could offer more in terms of academic challenges and career opportunities. More than anything, I longed for a more diverse environment where I could meet people from different backgrounds, explore new ideas, and be part of a larger campus community.
"I just knew it was time for a change," I remember thinking. "It wasn’t that I disliked my old school, I just felt like I needed to grow, and I knew I wasn’t going to get that there."
Once I made the decision to transfer, I started researching schools, and Kent State stood out right away. They offered the kind of marketing program I was looking for, and the more I read about the campus life and opportunities for internships, the more I realized Kent State was the perfect fit for me. I decided to take the plunge and apply.
The transfer process itself was surprisingly straightforward. The admissions team was incredibly helpful. They walked me through every step, from transferring credits to finding housing. Honestly, I was nervous about how all the paperwork would work, but Kent State’s online portal made it easy to track my application. And when I got my acceptance letter, I was beyond excited—I knew I was about to start a whole new adventure.
From the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew I was in the right place. Kent State has this incredible sense of community, and I immediately felt welcomed. The campus is so diverse, and the students here come from all walks of life, which I had never experienced before. It felt like I was surrounded by people who were open-minded and ready to learn from each other.
I got involved with the Kent State Marketing Club right away, and it’s been such a rewarding experience. The club has allowed me to connect with other students who share my passion for marketing and to network with professionals in the field.
There’s so much going on at Kent State, and it’s exciting to be part of a campus that feels alive with opportunities.
Academically, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Kent State’s marketing program is exactly what I was hoping for—challenging, relevant, and taught by professors who really care about helping students succeed. I’ve already learned so much about digital marketing, market research, and consumer behavior. Every class feels like it’s preparing me for the future I want, and that’s a great feeling.
Looking back on my transfer experience, I couldn’t be more thankful for the way everything fell into place.
Transferring to Kent State was the best decision I could have made, and I’d encourage anyone thinking about transferring to go for it. If you feel like you’re not in the right place or you’re not getting the opportunities you need, don’t be afraid to take the leap. Kent State has not only helped me grow academically but also personally, and I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes me.
For me, Kent State is more than just a university—it’s a place where I’ve found my passion, my community, and a bright future ahead.
