Establish your Kent State student account in FlashLine

Your first (and very important!) step is to log in to  and establish your Kent State student account. FlashLine is a virtual hub of information that you will use throughout your time as a Kent State student.

Get Started

  1. To log in for the first time, go to .
  2. Enter your Kent State email address (ex. "janedoe@kent.edu"). This can be found in the "Your FlashLine Credentials" email you received after you were admitted.
  3. To create your temporary password, enter the following information in the drop down boxes:
    1. The month you were born.
    2. The year you were born.
    3. The last five digits of your Kent State Identification Number. This can be found in your admission letter.
  4. Once you have successfully logged in with this temporary password, you will be prompted to select a new password. You will also be asked to provide an alternate email address and answer challenge questions that you can use to reset your password in case it is forgotten.
  5. After you establish your account, please save your FlashLine credentials somewhere safe.

Establishing your account in FlashLine allows you to access important financial aid information, the housing application and commuter exemption form, and much more.

Pay your enrollment fee in your admissions portal

Only Kent Campus first-year freshmen must pay the enrollment fee to commit to Kent State. To pay the enrollment fee, .

The enrollment fee is refundable until Dec. 1 for incoming spring students and until May 1 for incoming fall students. You can request a refund by contacting your admissions counselor or emailing us at admissions@kent.edu.

Set up your KSUview account

KSUview is an easy and safe way to share your student information such as financial aid, personal information (address, phone and email), registration (status and schedule) and your student account (detail, summary, tax notification and holds) with parents, guardians or family members.

This could be helpful if your parents, guardians or family members will help you with financial aid or need information about account balances.

If you would like to give your parent of family member access to your information, complete these steps:

  • and select "Student" in the left-hand column.
  • Under "Student" select "Resources."
  • Under "Resources" select "Requests and Authorizations."
  • The webpage will be displayed; select KSUview.
  • Choose "Add Designee" and fill in the fields for First Name, Last Name and Email Address for the person you’re giving access to; click "Add Designee."
  • Click on "Expand" (designee name). In the Profile tab, complete the information requested for your designee. 
  • On the Authorization tab, select the items you’d like your designee to view online.

Students Entering the Fall 2026 Semester

  • Oct. 1, 2025 – The 2026-27  opens.
  • Feb. 1, 2026 – Deadline to submit the  to qualify for the best financial aid offer.
  • Aug. 24, 2026 â€“ Fall classes begin.

Students Entering the Spring 2026 Semester

  • November 2024 â€“ The 2025-26 opens.
  • Jan. 12, 2026 â€“ Spring classes begin.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and apply for scholarships

The 2026-27  will open on Oct. 1, 2025. This is one of the most important applications of your college career. To receive the best financial offer from ºÚÁÏÍø, Fall 2026 semester students must submit the FAFSA by Feb. 1, 2026. Be sure to add our FAFSA code: 003051.

ScholarshipUniverse is your hub for finding and applying for scholarships. It is a search portal that will match you to internal (Kent State-specific) and external scholarships. Internal university scholarship applications have a deadline of Feb. 1, 2026, while external scholarship deadlines vary. Be sure you keep track of when each application is due.

Academic advising and registering for classes

Undergraduate Students  

You must make an appointment with an academic advisor to schedule classes. KSU Navigate is the academic platform you'll use to schedule your appointment.  Learn more about KSU Navigate on our webpage here.

 Graduate Students 

  • All graduate students will need to complete . Some programs may also require a program orientation.  
  • You must make an appointment with an academic advisor to schedule classes. Advising appointments vary by program. Contact your faculty advisor or Kent State Online (online@kent.edu) for assistance on scheduling an advising appointment.
Review financial aid offer and financial aid checklist

You will be notified when you can view and accept decline or reduce your financial aid awards (including federal aid, state aid and university scholarships) in .

  • First-time federal loan borrowers: Sign the and complete . You must complete these to receive federal aid. During entrance counseling, you'll learn about direct loans, budgeting, repayment options and your rights as a borrower. In order to use your federal student aid for non-institutional charges, complete your Title IV authorization.
  • Returning federal loan borrowers: Monitor federal loan borrowing, view loan history and find servicer information on . Report outside scholarships, awards and other tuition assistance you are bringing to Kent State on the Offer tab of your Financial Aid Dashboard in .

There are a few more things you need to do before the semester starts:

  • Submit your final transcripts and test scores. Ask your school counselor to send your final high school transcript with your graduation date—this is required to start classes at Kent State. To earn credit for college courses or Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB) exams, send your final transcripts or test scores.
  • Register for Selective Service. If you are an Ohio resident male over the age of 18, register for selective service.
  • Review and complete mandatory immunizations if you plan to live on campus. You can find more information on our webpage here.
  • Review tuition payment options on the Financial, Billing and Enrollment Center website.
  • Request your chosen name. We recognize that some students use a name other than their legal name to identify themselves. We recommend you do this before arriving on campus. You can do this by logging in to and following the steps below:
    • Select "Student" in the left-hand column.
    • Under "Student," select "Resources."
    • Under "Resources," select "Requests and Authorizations."
    • The webpage will be displayed; select "Chosen Name Request."
